October 2025 CarbonBetter® Impact Update
Every month we share the positive impact our customers have made through their use of CarbonBetter-certified 100% energy, which is included in every Provision clean energy supply plan. Each customer on these plans receives an email with their personal impact for the month, and this blog post reflects the impact all of our customers have made together since we became CarbonBetter-certified in October 2020.
We’re honored to be able to provide affordable clean energy that makes a real difference. Check out all of our past Impact Updates here!

Provision customers have funded planting 156,836 trees, which may sequester 2,588 tons of carbon in their lifetime.***
Want to be included in our next impact update?
It’s easy to contribute to the positive impact we make each month. All Provision energy plans include CarbonBetter clean energy, which helps you make a difference automatically when you use energy at home.
Our customers help fund clean energy generation through renewable energy certificates, offset carbon through carbon credits, and plant trees to aid in reforestation and increase our natural carbon-capturing capabilities. It’s never too late to start using your energy for good.
October 2025 Featured Project: Bi-County Landfill Gas Destruction Project

About the Project
The Bi-County Landfill Gas Destruction Project is a landfill-gas-to-energy facility designed to capture landfill methane and destroy it through combustion while generating electricity. The project is associated with the Bi-County Landfill in Woodlawn, Tennessee, and the electricity produced is sold to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
How It Works
The facility includes 57 gas collection points and accompanying gas collection infrastructure.
The gas collection and control system (GCCS) consists of:
- Vertical gas collection wells
- Linear gas collectors
- Co205.9k
- mWh
- Provision customers have funded 205,837 mWh of clean energy generation, which could power 22,100 homes for a year.* nnector points on the header system
These components work together to extract landfill gas and help control fugitive emissions.
The site operates two stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines that can generate up to 2.95 MW at full capacity, converting captured landfill gas into electricity for sale to TVA.
Project Benefits
- Methane emissions reduction: Capturing and combusting landfill methane lowers the release of a potent greenhouse gas.
- Renewable electricity generation: Produces power (up to 2.95 MW) from landfill gas that would otherwise be emitted or flared.
- Local operational improvements: Expanded and improved gas collection systems can also help with odor control and overall landfill gas management.
Conclusion
CAR790 turns landfill methane into a useful energy resource by capturing gas through a wellfield and header system, then converting it into electricity via two reciprocating engines. In doing so, it both reduces fugitive methane emissions and delivers renewable power to TVA, aligning climate and operational benefits in one project.
