Ann Arbor Fun Facts, Ann Arbor, Michigan is a beautiful place to live and work. Home to the prestigious University of Michigan, 70.4% of Ann Arbor residents hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Michigan Stadium, nicknamed “The Big House”, is the largest football stadium in America with 109,901 seats. There’s lots more to this college town than meets the eye, though.

Ann Arbor Fun Facts:

  • There are 158 parks in Ann Arbor, MI. The city has definitely earned its name, as the word “arbor” refers to a leafy garden.
  • The Google AdWords program, Google’s largest source of revenue, is located in Ann Arbor.
  • In 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency recognized Ann Arbor as a “Recycling Pioneer.” It was one of the top 20 waste reduction communities in the United States.
  • Tiny “fairy doors” located throughout the city make for a fun adventure. They are small pieces of installation art that can be found around town.
  • The Argus camera company was founded in Ann Arbor in 1936. An Argus C3 makes an appearance in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”.
  • Ann Arbor is home to the Fragel. It starts with Raisin bagel dough that is deep fried then rolled in cinnamon and sugar.  Yum!
