July 2025 CarbonBetter® Impact Update
Every month we share the positive impact our customers have made through their use of CarbonBetter-certified 100% energy, which is included in every Provision clean energy supply plan. Each customer on these plans receives an email with their personal impact for the month, and this blog post reflects the impact all of our customers have made together since we became CarbonBetter-certified in October 2020.
We’re honored to be able to provide affordable clean energy that makes a real difference. Check out all of our past Impact Updates here!

July 2025 Featured Project: 80 MW Solar by Fermi Solar Farms PVT LTD – Chalisgoan

About the Project
SOLAR BY FERMI SOLAR FARMS PVT LTD at Chalisgaon is a large-scale, grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in Maharashtra, India, with a capacity of 108 MWp commissioned in May 2018 and operated by Fermi Solarfarms Private Limited.
Fermi Solarfarms Pvt Ltd established this solar project in Chalisgaon to generate clean electricity using solar PV technology, with the energy fed directly into the Indian electricity grid. The project has an operational track record of over 6.5 years and is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) at a fixed tariff, ensuring long-term stability and revenue. The project is part of a broader initiative to harness renewable energy and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
How It Works
The Solar by Fermi Solar Farms PVT LTD operates through a structured process that sets out clear compliance requirements:
- Photovoltaic Panels: The facility uses ground-mounted solar PV panels that capture sunlight and convert it into electrical energy.
- Grid Connection: The electricity produced is transmitted to the local and national grid, supporting regional energy demands and offsetting traditional fossil fuel use.
- Fixed Tariff Sale: All electricity produced is sold to SECI under a long-term fixed tariff contract, providing predictable financial returns.
- Sustainable Operations: The infrastructure is designed for low maintenance, long operational life, and environmental compliance.
Project Benefits
- Clean Energy Production: The project supplies significant quantities of renewable electricity, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
- Energy Security: Stable renewable energy contributions diversify India’s electricity mix and enhance grid reliability.
- Long-Term Revenue: The fixed PPA provides stable income, supporting financial sustainability and investment in future green projects.
- Community and Environmental Impact: The project contributes to greener local development and empowers communities by supplying clean energy, reducing reliance on polluting sources, and sometimes supporting local agricultural initiatives.
Conclusion
Fermi Solarfarms Pvt Ltd’s Chalisgaon project illustrates the transition to large-scale, reliable, and sustainable solar power in India, delivering clean electricity, stable financial returns, and significant environmental benefits, all while supporting the national renewable energy targets over the long term.
